Model School (English Medium) was established under the patronage of Basantapur Education Society and founded by Dr. Nazrul Islam, IPS (Retd). The school is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi, and offers education from Nursery (Balvatika) to Class XII with Science and Arts streams at the Senior Secondary level.

Weakness in English is a major barrier for many students of this area in securing jobs. Working knowledge of English is essential across private and public sectors, and English remains a compulsory paper in prestigious competitive examinations such as UPSC Civil Services and West Bengal Public Service Commission tests. Model School begins English Medium education from the Pre-Primary stage so that students become skilled and comfortable in English along with other subjects.

Joint Entrance Examinations for premier institutions such as Medical Colleges, IITs, IISc and IISERs are conducted through All India Boards. Studying the CBSE syllabus helps students prepare for these pathways. Attendance
Students must attend classes regularly. Term-end examination eligibility requires prescribed attendance, with exceptions for recorded medical cases.
Report Card
After each term, a report card covering attendance, sociability, cognitive development and learning is issued for parent comments.
Uniform
All students wear the school uniform prescribed by the Head of the Institution, building identity and discipline.
Merit-Based Admission Process
All admissions are strictly on the basis of merit. Aspirants submit applications in the prescribed format. The Principal decides after meeting parents and students, and may hold an admission test if necessary. The list of selected candidates is published by the Principal.
- Nursery to UKG: Direct admission (as per session norms)
- Class I to IX: Through admission test only
- Class XI Science / Humanities: Process starts after Secondary Examination; admission through school admission test
- Age norms: As per CBSE, New Delhi and National Education Policy
